Meet Dr. Smith

Hello! I am Dr. Angelica Smith, a psychologist from Portage, Indiana. I studied psychology and criminal justice/criminology at Ball State University. I completed my master's degree in counseling with a specialization in forensic psychology at Adler University in 2018. I continued my academic journey at Adler University and completed my doctorate in clinical psychology in 2023. I am passionate about advocacy and social justice. My dissertation was on young adult women's experience of sexual trauma and changes in their substance use after their experience while in college. On a personal note, I live with my husband and our three cats, Puffy, Binx, and Jynx. I love to read and travel, especially to the mountains and the beach.

I am licensed in Indiana (License #20043905A) and authorized to practice interjursidictional telepsychology (APIT #24428). With over 5 years of experience working in medium and maximum security facilities, I have worked with clients that were initially hesitant to seek out mental health services due to the stigma associated with it. My experience working in corrections has allowed me to work with a variety of concerns including addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, and overall difficulties adjusting to significant life changes. I strive to create a safe and collaborative space for my clients to allow themselves to be vulnerable. I utilize an integrative approach to psychotherapy and prioritize meeting my clients where they are. I value being authentic and transparent with the people that I work with.
